Alo Nutrition is in network with multiple insurance plans, and we continue expanding our contracts so more clients can access care through their benefits.
Because coverage varies widely by plan, state, and diagnosis, we encourage every client to verify their nutrition counseling benefits before their initial appointment.

Insurance plans differ in how they cover nutrition services, so the most accurate information will come directly from your insurance company. We encourage clients to verify their nutrition counseling benefits before beginning services.
Alo Nutrition does not verify benefits on your behalf.
You can download our Benefit Verification Script below to guide your call with your insurance company.
If your plan does not cover nutrition counseling or we are out of network without benefits, you may choose to work with us as a private pay client.

Insurance coverage for nutrition counseling can feel confusing, especially when you’re trying to understand denials, out-of-network restrictions, or gaps in coverage for eating disorder care. You’re not alone — many clients experience these challenges, and there are organizations that can help you understand your rights, appeal decisions, or access financial assistance.
The following organizations are independent from Alo Nutrition but offer valuable support for clients navigating financial hardship, coverage limitations, or insurance denials.

Provides financial assistance and treatment scholarships for individuals experiencing barriers to accessing eating disorder care.

Offers information, guidance, and tools to help individuals challenge insurance denials and better understand coverage for eating disorder services.
Eating disorders are recognized as mental health conditions, and the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act requires most insurance plans to provide mental health benefits — including eating disorder treatment — at a level comparable to medical/surgical benefits.
This means insurers cannot place stricter limits, exclusions, or barriers on eating disorder care than they do for other medical services. While this doesn’t guarantee full coverage, it does protect your right to pursue appeals and challenge inappropriate denials.
Please reach us at billing@alo-nutrition.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
If we are not in network with your plan, you may still have out-of-network benefits for nutrition counseling. Contact your insurance provider using the Benefit Verification Script above.
Payment is due at the time of service for all out-of-network appointments.
Upon request, we will provide a superbill (an itemized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. A superbill does not guarantee reimbursement.
To respect your time and ours, we ask for 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice: $120 fee
No-shows (not present within the first 15 minutes): $120 fee
Insurance does not cover late-cancel or no-show fees. Your card on file will be charged automatically.

If you’re able to request one, having your provider fax a referral and diagnosis to 833-860-7211 can help speed up the admission process, especially when billing insurance.
California residents:
If you are physically located in California during your appointment, state law does require a physician referral for nutrition counseling. Please request that your provider fax the referral and diagnosis to 833-860-7211 before scheduling.
A credit card is required on file for all clients.
