Sara Szatkowski
Sara Szatkowski is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist serving Missouri and Michigan. She specializes in working with people who are in the midst of struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, chronic dieting and weight cycling. Her areas of interest include gastrointestinal disorders, ARFID as well as Yoga and body attunement with Intuitive Eating.
Sara desires to help others reconnect to food and their bodies. We are born with strong abilities to sense what our bodies need, however this often gets lost in our society with so many external messages about how to achieve that. Sara believes that the way we think about food and our bodies is pivotal for adequate nourishment and mental health.
Sara is a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher and enjoys incorporating mindfulness strategies, stretching and breathing into reconnecting with one's True Self. She is a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and this approach as well as a Health at Every Size lens is at the base of all her food and body healing work. She is also pursuing her Certified Eating Disordered Specialist (CEDS) certification through iaedp.
Sara was born and raised in Metro Detroit, Michigan and went to Central Michigan University for college and completed her Dietetic Internship there. She has worked in food service, health and fitness centers, outpatient eating disorder centers, clinically at University of Michigan Medicine Hospital and in the gastrointestinal clinic. She has become very well rounded by seeing a wide variety of clients and conditions and has chosen to focus her work on helping people to develop a better relationship with food.
When not working, Sara enjoys gardening (especially flowers) in the spring, summer and fall months, as well practicing yoga and spending time in nature with loved ones. She believes that nature is our greatest grounding resource and much can be learned about how to treat our bodies if we tune into how the earth makes us feel. are.
