Current professional interests: I am currently professionally interested in Health At Every Size, eating disorder harm reduction, orthorexia, and the intersection of neurodiversity and eating experiences. I linked my favorite educational resources with each in case you are reading this and are interested as well!
What kind of clients do I see?
I work with people of any gender who are ages 14 and older. I am comfortable with all genders and specifically support gender expansive people in my care.
I regularly see clients with eating disorders who struggle with restrictive eating, binge eating, self-induced vomiting, and/or exercise abuse. I see people with varying levels of behavior use, and with varying levels of desire to change. Please see the link above associated with eating disorder harm reduction if you are ambivalent about change and are also seeking improvement in your quality of life.
My work is rooted in a neurodivergent paradigm as, which is well-explained by Sonny Jane Wise as a fundamental shift toward centering the need to accept neurodivergent people’s differences, as opposed to the framing of them as problems.
There are many people living with health conditions that can be impacted by nutrition, but many of those same people find that dieting and weight loss have not been successful. I love to work with people who are looking to improve their health from a non-diet, weight-inclusive approach.
About me:
I am originally from—and currently live in— the suburbs outside of Chicago. I am a graduate of the University of Missouri in Columbia. I hold my Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology, and my Masters of Science in Dietetics.
After finishing graduate school at the University of Missouri, I came back to Illinois and began working at a treatment facility as their partial hospitalization program’s dietitian. I grew to understand that my hopes and dreams around food and body healing were more expansive than the treatment center could accommodate for, so I decided to turn my part-time work with Sarah and Lori into my full-time gig!
