Carlie is a Registered Dietitian based in Durham, NC. She is licensed to practice in Missouri, Illinois, Texas, North Carolina, Mississippi, and Kentucky.
Carlie received her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics with a focus in Kinesiology from Texas Tech University. She then completed her internship and obtained her Masters in Nutritional Sciences from Texas Tech.
While at Texas Tech, Carlie was a student-athlete on the Division 1 varsity volleyball team from 2012-2016. During her athletic career she was a co-captain, ranked within the top 5 for the number of digs in a single season, and still holds the record for number of Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week Awards (3) within a single-season at Texas Tech. She also coached youth volleyball for 10 years, was a club director for 2 of those years, and interned with the strength and conditioning staff at Texas Tech. Carlie has a love for helping high school and college athletes with volleyball nutrition. Throughout her time in Lubbock, Carlie also found a passion for prevention of RED-S and disordered eating among athletes through adequate fueling for athletic events during the on- and off-season.
Having been an athlete, a coach, and now a new mom; Carlie also understands how transitional periods throughout stages of life can affect one’s relationship with movement, food, and body. She brings experience in infant, pediatric, pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, and postpartum medical nutrition therapy in the hospital and outpatient settings. This has cultivated a passion for helping clients who are pregnant and working on maintaining recovery, need specialized guidance on adequate fueling while pregnant or simply taking care of a little one, and simply helping moms and moms-to-be who strive to improve their relationship with food. Outside of her background and education, her personal understanding and compassion for the trials that life may bring, has given her with the ability to help guide one through these trials and continue along their path to food freedom.
Carlie has worked in the Northwest Texas Healthcare System in west Texas with her primary focus in the behavioral health and eating disorder population, gaining knowledge and experience for eating disorders and many comorbid psychiatric diagnoses. Carlie also spent time at University of North Carolina hospital system, primarily focused on infant and pediatric nutrition therapy.
With a passion for eating disorders and sports nutrition counseling, she is pursuing her Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) certification and Board Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) credential.
As a non-diet and weight-inclusive dietitian, Carlie helps clients repair their relationship with food and body using Intuitive Eating principles and the HAES approach. She helps clients find body acceptance, embrace food flexibility and trust their body communication. Carlie strives to meet the client where they are in the process, incorporating lifestyle and behavior changes to push past barriers all while providing support and positive reinforcement.
When she’s not working, Carlie enjoys spending quality time with loved ones and soaking up the sun. Her favorite activities include tennis, yoga, lifting weights, hiking and skiing. She loves car camping and traveling across the country with her family. Carlie’s hobbies include gardening,
baking, and crocheting.
