Introduction to Neurodivergence and Feeding presented by Sina King-Smith MS, NCC, RDN, LD will outline the prevalence of eating disorders for neurodivergent people and the prevalence of feeding and eating differences, while also considering barriers to neurodivergent identification and current treatment approaches. This presentation will provide resources specific to neurodivergent identification, clinician support strategies, and discuss a strengths-based approach to care. This presentation will assist clinicians in better understanding these conditions and presentations while equipping them with support strategies that align with a neurodiversity-affirming practice. Finally, a case study will be presented to engage audience members in applying new presentation concepts to real-world examples of client care.

Join us for our first Series: Introduction to Neurodivergent Theory & Clinical Practice, presented by Sina King-Smith MS, NCC, RDN, LD. This series will dive into neurodivergent-affirming theories to offer clinicians a foundational understanding of concepts that support ND clients and include their lived experiences. Concepts such as monotropism, perception, sensory processing, the ND nervous system, minicolumns theory, and more will be described and built upon to offer clinicians a specialized understanding, tools, and support strategies they can translate to their own practice when working with neurodivergent clients. Each presentation will offer a case study and real-world examples of client care while offering reflection questions to engage participants and deepen the learning experience.
